shakespeare on ice
As some of you are already aware of, we are holding one last production before the year ends–a “trivial” one (although trivial is relative to our other full productions). It’s our “SLBP” - “Super Low Budget Production.” (Hopefully we won’t have need of *that* many of them!) We plan to have some of your fave Shakespearean characters zoom around on ice in… (drumroll) Shakespeare on Ice!

It looks like the crowd wants to see (in order of most “votes”) Romeo, Juliet, MSND’s Mechanicals, Ophelia, Lady MacB, Shylock, Henry VIII, Katherina (TotS)

Interested? Not seen your fave Shakespearean character on the list? Help us plan our interim production. We’re about to finalize our “Shakespeare on Ice” characters — but still waiting for your input! Deadline: Dec 10 at 11:59 PST/SLT

(Incidentally, the Shakespeare sim landing point coordinates are determined via some interesting and revealing numerology.)

Shakespeare Sim Landing Point

   Posted by: Ina Centaur Tags:

Although there are already a few structures already in their semi-permanent locations, by decree of numerical feng shui, the Shakespeare island sim landing point location is officially Shakespeare (158,103,46). Why?

Psalm 46 (KJV) is the Rosetta Stone of this casting:

shakespearesimnumerology.PNG

  • The word “Shake” is the 46th word (noninclusive) from the beginning of Psalm 46 and the word “Spear” is the 46th word (noninclusive) from the end of Psalm 46
  • The word “Shake” is the 158th word (noninclusive) from the end of Psalm 46 and the word “Spear” is the 158th word (noninclusive) from the beginning of Psalm 46
    • There are 111 words between the word Shake and Spear.
      • Shake @ 0+46
      • Spear @ T-46 (T is total number of words in Psalm 46)
      • T=205 words… Difference is T - 92 - 2 (not counting for Shake and Spear)
  • Shakespeare is 103 in Caeser Cipher using Bacon’s 24 letter alphabet prominent in Shakespeare’s days. Caesar Cipher (with 0 displacement) begins by assigning A=1, B=2, C=3, etc… But, the 24-letter archaic alphabet assigns the same “number” to the letters i&j and u&v, since these two are often used interchangeably, and Z=24.
    • S=18, H=8, A=1, K=10, E=5, S=18, P=15, E=5, A=1, R=17, E=5
    • Sum up the letters above to get 103 :-)
    • (Don’t you feel kinda giddy? :-D)

Hats off to Robert Fowler Jr of “Light of Truth” for deducing this one!

On Nov 21st, I gave this speech to open the SLSC SOS Campaign, a last attempt at raising funding just to pay for the island sims - “Save Our Sims” - of the SL Shakespeare Company’s Globe Theatre. The purpose of the fundraiser is very simple; it is all to raise enough funds so we won’t become homeless. Please visit the campaign website for more details. Or, please read Lora Constantine’s PR.

New Production Serial Code - AP

Posted by: Ina Centaur Tags: , ,

Our upcoming production of “Twelfth Night: Act 1″, aka, “MP3″ (MiniProduction 3) will also be known as “AP1″, or “Act Production 1″ — both to minimize terminology confusion between the standard media/colloquial usage of “mp3″ for a music compression format, and also since these productions are entire acts, and not just “extended” scenes like in the first two Hamlet miniproductions. For more information on production serial codes, please see http://twelfthnight.slshakespeare.com/blog/about/a-note-on-production-serials/

A Welcome to Third Party Events @ the SL Globe Theatre

Posted by: Ina Centaur Tags: ,

The SL Globe Theatre, a venue that can support over 200 avatars simultaneously, welcomes events scheduled during days when SL Shakespeare Company shows are not scheduled. Public events are free (but you can also book the four island simulator theatre all to yourself for your private event).
Details here: http://twelfthnight.slshakespeare.com/blog/you-your-event-at-the-sl-globe-theatre/

 (Clarification)

Earlier today, I sent out a notice about “You!: Your Event at the Globe Theatre”. Received a couple of similar questions, so this is just a quick note to clarify:

If you wish to hold an event open to the public, it’s free of charge for you to hold it at the Globe.  (”Private performance” pricing is if you want the Globe blocked to access only to a certain group.)
